I have had a lovely weekend, babysitting our little grand-daughter and finally putting up a Christmas tree. All the usual decorations have been up since the 1st of December, but had decided not to bother with a tree, for the first time EVER, as we were going away. Well, it finally got the better of me and we bought one on Saturday, and then had a lovely time with our grand-daughter, decorating it. The photos are of a couple Santas that I have done in polymer clay years ago, before Powertex took over in my life!! Although, I have just recently bought some more clay to have a play with over the Christmas break I will be offering two day polymer clay workshops next year, only from the Churchill studio, Hope to have new dates up on the website this weekend, for general Powertex workshops, polymer clay 2 day workshops, felted teddies, Certified Powertex Trainer Course and market/exhibition information.

I am starting to pack and get organised for what will be a busy weekend. On Saturday, the Faeries will be at the "End of the Line" Festival in Belgrave. This should be the most amazing event. So many mazing performances, art displays and activities and of course a makers market, that I will be at. End of the Line Website and Program Then on Sunday, I will be at the fabulous Yarra Glen market, with Craft Markets Australia. A great opportunity to finish off your Christmas shopping in the beautiful Yarra Valley. Link here to the Craft Markets Australia site for more information I have just had another great weekend training, as Bev Fothergill, from Craigieburn, completed Level Three and Four of the Certified Powertex Trainer Course. Bev's work is just beautiful. Her painting skills with her PowerPrint Level 4 piece are fabulous!! Knowing that I had a bag of dried flowers "somewhere under a spare bed", discovered all kinds of goodies in a bag that I had forgotten about,, to help Bev finish of the foreground on her PowerPrint - expect lots of work with dried flowers over the coming weeks!! Next weekend I will be at the fabulous Hanging Rock market, with Craft Markets Australia. Haven't done this one before, and am looking forward to the weekend away as well. Congratulations Bev!! Just wanted to share what a fabulous weekend I have had in Melbourne, training
our latest four Certified Powertex Trainers in Victoria. Welcome to Beverley Fothergill from Craigieburn, Joy Tedjosiswoyo from Thomastown, Marg McHardy from Heathmont and Jan Drougas from Beaumaris. It was also a great chance to catch up with our youngest daughter and her husband who live in Melbourne. Ken got to do some shopping and we had a lovely dinner on Saturday night at a great Indian restaurant!! I look forward to more training this coming weekend with a few of the girls again, as they complete Level Three and Four!! Over the weekend there will be the opportunity to make your own tea-light holder, an elegant masquerade wall plaque, see demonstrations on how to use PowerPrint, the fabulous photo transfer medium, a variety of mixed media products and techniques, and of course sculpture demonstrations!! I have finally unpacked the final boxfrom the Craft and Quilt Fair in Melbourne last weekend. What a fabulous experience it was, and how great for Powertex and "Faeries with Attitude" to get such exposure in Melbourne. Many thanks to both Ash and Mark, from Powertex Australia, for such an opportunity. Also, thanks to Sharron, Caren and Lyn for helping out on the stand during the Fair and being our support people while Ash and I demonstrated or held workshops. For the wonderful artwork that was on the stand, thanks to Val, Kaz, Sharron and Caren. There were so many compliments about the standard and variety of artwork. We were so lucky to get the additional space above the stand to display the fantastic mixed media and PowerPrint pieces. Thanks also to Ken, my husband. He was up the ladder hanging artwork, helping shift stock, doing a lot of the "heavy stuff" during set-up and then on Sunday night, taking it all back down again. I feel as if it has taken all week to recover, but will be back into workshops and the Certified Powertex Trainer Course this week!!
Ashley Bowley from Powertex Australia, the importer of Powertex, and Rhonda Hunt, Victorian Distributor and Trainer.
How fantastic does the Powertex stand, at the Craft and Quilt Fair look?? What a huge job, many hours of work, lots of laughter, frustration at trying to get the artwork to hang straight, boxes everywhere, things missing, scissors gone AWOL, and finally a display that looks wonderful. Featuring artwork by some of the Victorian Powertex Team, there are many beautiful examples for to inspire you, demonstrating what can be achieved with the fabulous Powertex range of products. There are lots of great show "specials", and workshops and demonstrations throughout the day. Every day, I will be doing a "Christmas in July" Christmas Bauble demonstration, and a fabric tealight holder workshop. Ash will be doing a Powerprint demonstration daily and a beautiful mask workshop tomorrow at 4.00pm. Looking forward to a fabulous four days!!
Lois and Jocelyn with some of their work.
Well, I have had a fabuous weekend working with Lois, Jocelyn and Kaz as they finished off their Level 3 and 4 Certified Powertex Trainer Course. Wonderful to see the results that can be achieved using Powertex products, by some very clever people!! Although there were some concerns that they had not painted much in the past, all the girls achieved wonderful results, proving they were more talented that they were giving themselves credit for. Lois and Jocelyn finished their mixed media pieces on Saturday for Level 3 and today Kaz joined them to finish Level 4. Kaz's work can also be seen on her Facebook page, Quintessential. Just confirmed a couple of new Sitting Sculpture workshops. The first one is with Traralgon and District Arts Society, at the "Art on Track" Gallery, Queens Parade in Traralgon. This will be on Saturday, 22nd June. Bookings are through the Art Society on 51766000. The other one is at Wyreena Community Arts Centre in Croydon, on Saturday, 13th July. Pictured is some of the fantastic work completed at the last Wyreena workshop!! A reminder that I will be at Traralgon Craft Market tomorrow with the faeries, and also featuring the work of Val Prokopiv, Sharron Johnson, and Karell Phillips, the other local Powertex trainers!! Perfect for that last minute Mothers Day shopping. |
