I hope everyone has had a fabulous Christmas, spent with those they love, friends, family and had good times.
I have had a lovely Christmas Day with our children and their partners all being home for Christmas lunch; and extended family as well.
Looking forward to the New Year, I hope to get a newsletter out soon. I had a nasty slip a few days before Christmas, which put me out of action for a few days, so the newsletter was put on hold. I will have an updated list of workshops and Certified Powertex Trainer dates, market information and some new workshops.
I will be available throughout January for workshops from the Churchill studio on most days. And of course the "Arty Party" special applies to all workshops, except the Powertex trainer course. Bring four friends to the Churchill studio for a workshop and get your workshop for FREE!
For at least Term One, I will only be teaching from the home studio. I have lots of ideas that I will be pursuing in the New Year, with kits available online and some new workshops as well. I have been working again with polymer and air-dried clay, and some PowerPrints on fabric, so I will have a slightly different focus next year, more textiles, photography and fibre/felting, which will carry over into workshops eventually.
I have been very spoilt in getting an embellisher for my birthday in early December, (it's a kind of felting machine), and have been exploring what I can do in terms of creating my own fabric for sculptures and mixed media artworks, combining with Powertex, Lutradur, Tyvek etc.
So many possibilities to explore in the New Year!
Best wishes to everyone for a fabulous New Year, from
Rhonda at Faeries with Attitude
On Sunday, Faeries with Attitude will return to the fabulous Yarra Glen Race Course market with Craft Markets Australia. Sounds like the market is going to be huge. We will be on Site 217. The work of Val Prokopiv, another Victorian Powertex trainer will be featured on the stand. Val's watercolour paintings are just beautiful.

I have been busy since the last post, with two new trainers joining us - Jan and David Watts, from Deniliquin.
Jan and David produced some spectacular work during their stay in Victoria. Jan has completed Levels 1-4 and David has completed Levels 1 and 2. They will be available for workshops in the Deniliquin area and also attend the Deniliquin Craft market. A fabulous couple, who just work so well together!
And also Marg McHardy has completed Level Four of her training. Marg had been worried that she couldn't paint, but I am sure you will agree that the piece she completed of her children, for Fathers Day, is wonderful!
And on Friday, I got to have a lovely workshop at home - (my favourite place to teach as I don't have to pack up the van) with a lovely mother and daughter, Deborah and Pat. They both produced beautiful standing sculptures, pictured below.
What a fabulous weekend it has been!
There are now FOUR new trainers in Victoria. It has been such a privilege to work with four amazingly talented women, who of whom is very young, but an awesome artist as well. Pictured are our new trainers with all of the work completed over the weekend. We have Briah Baker from Bacchus Marsh, Lyn Montel from Geelong, Sonya Else from Rochester and Lee Howard from Melbourne.
Sonya's other work can be seen at SoulHeartArt on Facebook. Her work has also been featured previously on this blog.Lyn has her work at StarDust Fibre Creations on Facebook and also at StarDust Intuitive Art on Facebook.
Congratulations and welcome to Powertex and the Australian Powertex Team.
On Sunday, I will be at GasWorks Art Park at Albert Park, where I will be holding a Standing Sculpture workshop. This one is full, but there is another scheduled for October. That one is also filling, so let me know if you are interested.
Then on Monday, another two people will be completing all four levels of the Certified Powertex Trainer course that week.
I do love the workshop/teaching side of Powertex! It is wonderful seeing everyone completing such beautiful work and growing in their confidence in using the products.
Then it will be time to get stuck into some work of my own!!
I have had such a lovely day today, working with Margaret McHardy, one of our Melbourne based Powertex Trainers. Marg completed Level Three today and will be back in two weeks to complete Level Four.
She is pictured with her beautiful piece, completed with fibres, Powertex (of course!), StoneARt, pigments, sand and Bister, to create the crackle effect.
On Friday, I am off to Daylesford to train our four new Certified Powertex Trainers, who are going to complete their Level One and Two. So excited, it should be lots of fun!!
Photos next week and keep an eye the websiter for our new trainers from Melbourne, Geelong, Rochester and Bacchus Marsh.
Hi everyone, hope all of my fellow Victorians are managing to keep warm with this cold snap we are having at the moment. I am finally over this horrible flu, that put me out of action for a few weeks. Finally feeling like getting back down to the studio, I had a lovely 'play day' on Friday, doing a little bit of felting, with one of my friends. Scarves were produced and lots of fun had!!
Some changes to the training program. Most people are aware that I usually only do the Certified Powertex Trainer Course from the home studio.
I will be travelling to Daylesford and doing Level One and Two there, on Saturday, 23rd and Sunday, 24th of August, at the Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre. So for those people north of Melbourne, it is a fabulous opportunity to do the course and not have to travel to Gippsland. Places are still available.
Now that I am "flu-free" and not at risk of passing it on to anyone, I am available for workshops again on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Arty Parties are still happening. Bring along four of your friends to the Churchill studio and get your workshop for FREE. This applies to any of the workshops that I do, including the new ones.
And what are the new ones? I will be taking the following new workshops:

Well we are home from the Fair - what a fabulous four days!
Exhausting, but so much fun; and what a delight to be surrounded by such good people. Powertex certainly attracts a lot of interest. People have been fascinated how the artwork on display has been produced and then amazed at how easily the pieces can come together.
We have all been so fortunate to meet such lovely people visiting the stand - interested in Powertex or perhaps who joined us for a workshop over the event.
There has been lots of laughter and creativity happening on the stand, and some great feedback that we were the friendliest stand, all so happy to spend the time with people, chatting about the product and comments about our level of enthusiasm for what we do! For us, it is great to see such fabulous work being created in the workshop and one of the things I just love about taking the workshops.
And then there is the Victorian Powertex Team!
Thank-you so much to Val, Sharron, Jan, Marg, Bev and Joy, our wonderful Victorian Powertex Trainers, who helped us on the stand and of course, to Ash and Mark, the Australian Importers of Powertex for arranging to have the stand at the Fair.
To cap it off, I got to call the winner last night of the $250 of Powertex products, part of our special draw. The winner, a lovely lady from Berwick, said "she never wins anything", and was so excited.
And now to spend the day with my grandchildren - I have missed them so much over the last few days!
I would like to welcome all of the new likers to the Facebook page. I can remember how excited I was when it got to 100 likers and now we are headed to 1000!!
965 to be precise.
Follow this link and pop over to the website too! All of the new workshop information is there, as well as an online booking form to stream-line the process.
What a productive weekend it has been. Boxes packed, suitcase kind of half-packed, sculptures and art work ready to go to the Craft and Quilt Fair at the Exhibition Centre in Melbourne.
Thanks to Val for helping yesterday with the wrapping of the artworks and to Tina, my sister in law for sorting the wine bottles for the pop-up workshops that will be happening during the Fair. Not quite the 60 required, but then there is always dinner each night!
If you come to the Craft and Quilt Fair, be sure to drop by the Powertex Australia stand. Meet some of the other Powertex Trainers in Victoria : Sharron, Val, Joy, Bev, Jan and Marg. There will be workshops happening all day. A great opportunity to try the fabulous range of Powertex products.
Well, we are just weeks away from the Craft and Quilt Fair at the Exhibition Centre in Melbourne. It is getting very exciting and I am pleased to announce a new website and lots of new training and workshops dates as well as a streamlined booking form for workshops!!
It has been a very busy week coordinating all of this and lots of hours in front of the computer working on the website instead of being down in the studio. All worthwhile though.
I will be at a number of new venues after the Craft and Quilt Fair for workshops and the Certified Powertex Trainer Course. The new venues are:
And of course, I will be teaching from the studio in Churchill, perfect for small groups.

I had such a lovely day yesterday, dropping off work to the various shops and galleries that stock my sculptures.
Great to go and see the beautiful work at the Artisans Store at the Old Butter Factory at Mirboo North, have a scrumptious lunch with Heather from Heathers Café, Craft and Wool in Korumburra, a chat with Faye, from B'Zarte at Jindivick and some more work into the Baw Baw Arts Alliance Hub at Yarragon.
A big day, no wonder I feel so tired!!
This weekend I also have work in at the Mirboo North Arty Gras Art Show and this month in at the "Hot to Trot" exhibition at BBAA.
Today I will be finalising dates for Term 3, after the Craft and Quilt Fair in Melbourne. I will be back at Wyreena on for workshops and the Powertex Trainer Course, as well as in Geelong and the Daylesforrd area. More details soon!!
I am so proud to present the artwork of Sonya Else. I have been supplying Sonya with Powertex and curiosity got the better of me and we started chatting about what she was using the product for.
She has graciously given permission to share her artwork and how she has been using Powertex.
Sonya isn't actually a trainer with us yet ( I am working on it), but I just love her work and thought people would be interested to see how other artists use the product.
Above is "Picture Perfect" equal first prize in the Peoples Choice Award at the Rochester Fine Art Show, 2014. Sonya says "The tree I also found the powertex very useful, I just love it!!! The mountain and rocks are made from painted Tyvek using the heat gun then free hand stitched, I have had so much fun creating these pieces".
The Lotus Pond is made to be viewed from above so it will sit on the floor it
is approximately 1.6mts x 1.mts, with the dragonflies suspended on wire and the Lotus are made from felted wool and stiffened with Powertex and water lily
