Hi everyone, hope all of my fellow Victorians are managing to keep warm with this cold snap we are having at the moment. I am finally over this horrible flu, that put me out of action for a few weeks. Finally feeling like getting back down to the studio, I had a lovely 'play day' on Friday, doing a little bit of felting, with one of my friends. Scarves were produced and lots of fun had!! Some changes to the training program. Most people are aware that I usually only do the Certified Powertex Trainer Course from the home studio. I will be travelling to Daylesford and doing Level One and Two there, on Saturday, 23rd and Sunday, 24th of August, at the Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre. So for those people north of Melbourne, it is a fabulous opportunity to do the course and not have to travel to Gippsland. Places are still available. Now that I am "flu-free" and not at risk of passing it on to anyone, I am available for workshops again on Wednesdays and Fridays. Arty Parties are still happening. Bring along four of your friends to the Churchill studio and get your workshop for FREE. This applies to any of the workshops that I do, including the new ones. And what are the new ones? I will be taking the following new workshops:

I would like to welcome all of the new likers to the Facebook page. I can remember how excited I was when it got to 100 likers and now we are headed to 1000!! 965 to be precise. Follow this link and pop over to the website too! All of the new workshop information is there, as well as an online booking form to stream-line the process. What a productive weekend it has been. Boxes packed, suitcase kind of half-packed, sculptures and art work ready to go to the Craft and Quilt Fair at the Exhibition Centre in Melbourne. Thanks to Val for helping yesterday with the wrapping of the artworks and to Tina, my sister in law for sorting the wine bottles for the pop-up workshops that will be happening during the Fair. Not quite the 60 required, but then there is always dinner each night! If you come to the Craft and Quilt Fair, be sure to drop by the Powertex Australia stand. Meet some of the other Powertex Trainers in Victoria : Sharron, Val, Joy, Bev, Jan and Marg. There will be workshops happening all day. A great opportunity to try the fabulous range of Powertex products. Well, we are just weeks away from the Craft and Quilt Fair at the Exhibition Centre in Melbourne. It is getting very exciting and I am pleased to announce a new website and lots of new training and workshops dates as well as a streamlined booking form for workshops!! It has been a very busy week coordinating all of this and lots of hours in front of the computer working on the website instead of being down in the studio. All worthwhile though. I will be at a number of new venues after the Craft and Quilt Fair for workshops and the Certified Powertex Trainer Course. The new venues are:
And of course, I will be teaching from the studio in Churchill, perfect for small groups. Link here to the new booking form I had such a lovely day yesterday, dropping off work to the various shops and galleries that stock my sculptures. Great to go and see the beautiful work at the Artisans Store at the Old Butter Factory at Mirboo North, have a scrumptious lunch with Heather from Heathers Café, Craft and Wool in Korumburra, a chat with Faye, from B'Zarte at Jindivick and some more work into the Baw Baw Arts Alliance Hub at Yarragon. A big day, no wonder I feel so tired!! This weekend I also have work in at the Mirboo North Arty Gras Art Show and this month in at the "Hot to Trot" exhibition at BBAA. Today I will be finalising dates for Term 3, after the Craft and Quilt Fair in Melbourne. I will be back at Wyreena on for workshops and the Powertex Trainer Course, as well as in Geelong and the Daylesforrd area. More details soon!! I had a busy day yesterday, dropping off some work for the "HOT TO TROT" - an exhibition of cash and carry art works, all created by members of the Baw Baw Arts Alliance. This exhibition will run from 30th April until 1st of June at the BBAA Arts Hub, 2 Murray Street, Yarragon. This is the link to BBAA.. You can meet the artists from 2pm on 1st June. This is a great opportunity to take the art work with you when you visit the exhibition - no need to return at its conclusion. From there, back to Melbourne to pick up some sculptures from one of the galleries. I will be delivering new pieces next week to galleries and shops that stock my work.I will also have some artwork in at the Mirboo North Arty Gras Art Show, on over the Mothers Day Weekend. I had such a lovely day yesterday, working with Joy Tedjosiswoyo, our Powertex trainer in Thomastown. Joy travelled up from Melbourne yesterday by train, to join me in the Churchill studio, to complete here Level 3. Her beautiful piece features the Yin and Yang Koi fish and one of the Powertex Buddhas. To complete the ocean theme, there is a collection shells and seaweed on the ocean floor. A lovely piece, although I did not envy her of the task to transport it back home via the train. Joy will be completing Level 4 - Powerprint, in two weeks time, and already has her photo to be used chosen. I am sure it is going to be another stunning piece. Congratulations Joy!! Link here for the next training dates How fabulous to see Powertex Australia at so many Stiches and Craft Shows and Quilt and Craft Fairs throughout Australia and New Zealand next year. I am so excited about being at both major shows next year with Ashley, the Importer/Owner of Powertex Australia in Melbourne next year. The Quilt and Craft Fair will be on from Thursday, 26th to Sunday, 29th of June and the Stiches and Craft Show is at Caulfield Race Course from Thursday, 23rd to Sunday, 26th of October. 2014 will be a great Powertex year!! I am starting to pack and get organised for what will be a busy weekend. On Saturday, the Faeries will be at the "End of the Line" Festival in Belgrave. This should be the most amazing event. So many mazing performances, art displays and activities and of course a makers market, that I will be at. End of the Line Website and Program Then on Sunday, I will be at the fabulous Yarra Glen market, with Craft Markets Australia. A great opportunity to finish off your Christmas shopping in the beautiful Yarra Valley. Link here to the Craft Markets Australia site for more information Over the last few days I have been making a few different things for the market at Hanging Rock on Sunday. Some candle holders, Yin and Yang inspired sculptures, Buddha candle holders and some new wall art. A nice change!! I will have to take photos of the other things on Sunday, as they are already packed into the van. For anyone after a great day on Sunday, the Hanging Rock Market should be fabulous. Hope the rain stays away!! Lots of stall holders and of course, Hanging Rock as the most spectacular backdrop for this market. For more information, link to the Craft Markets Australia page here. I have just had another great weekend training, as Bev Fothergill, from Craigieburn, completed Level Three and Four of the Certified Powertex Trainer Course. Bev's work is just beautiful. Her painting skills with her PowerPrint Level 4 piece are fabulous!! Knowing that I had a bag of dried flowers "somewhere under a spare bed", discovered all kinds of goodies in a bag that I had forgotten about,, to help Bev finish of the foreground on her PowerPrint - expect lots of work with dried flowers over the coming weeks!! Next weekend I will be at the fabulous Hanging Rock market, with Craft Markets Australia. Haven't done this one before, and am looking forward to the weekend away as well. Congratulations Bev!! |
