Hi everyone, hope all of my fellow Victorians are managing to keep warm with this cold snap we are having at the moment. I am finally over this horrible flu, that put me out of action for a few weeks. Finally feeling like getting back down to the studio, I had a lovely 'play day' on Friday, doing a little bit of felting, with one of my friends. Scarves were produced and lots of fun had!! Some changes to the training program. Most people are aware that I usually only do the Certified Powertex Trainer Course from the home studio. I will be travelling to Daylesford and doing Level One and Two there, on Saturday, 23rd and Sunday, 24th of August, at the Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre. So for those people north of Melbourne, it is a fabulous opportunity to do the course and not have to travel to Gippsland. Places are still available. Now that I am "flu-free" and not at risk of passing it on to anyone, I am available for workshops again on Wednesdays and Fridays. Arty Parties are still happening. Bring along four of your friends to the Churchill studio and get your workshop for FREE. This applies to any of the workshops that I do, including the new ones. And what are the new ones? I will be taking the following new workshops:
And the new training days are as follows:

I would like to welcome all of the new likers to the Facebook page. I can remember how excited I was when it got to 100 likers and now we are headed to 1000!! 965 to be precise. Follow this link and pop over to the website too! All of the new workshop information is there, as well as an online booking form to stream-line the process. What a productive weekend it has been. Boxes packed, suitcase kind of half-packed, sculptures and art work ready to go to the Craft and Quilt Fair at the Exhibition Centre in Melbourne. Thanks to Val for helping yesterday with the wrapping of the artworks and to Tina, my sister in law for sorting the wine bottles for the pop-up workshops that will be happening during the Fair. Not quite the 60 required, but then there is always dinner each night! If you come to the Craft and Quilt Fair, be sure to drop by the Powertex Australia stand. Meet some of the other Powertex Trainers in Victoria : Sharron, Val, Joy, Bev, Jan and Marg. There will be workshops happening all day. A great opportunity to try the fabulous range of Powertex products. When I am not making Faerie Bears, I am playing with Powertex. It is so good to be back down in the studio creating. Let me introduce "Rough Red", "Goldiwho?" and "I've got the blues". Other designs will be available and they can be done in any colour combination. Finished off with Powercotton for feathers and StoneArt air-dry clay for the wings and beak. These crazy birds will be available as a half day workshop and also available on a Monday night, at the Churchill studio. Larger birds can be made on request, up to 1 metre tall. Once cured they will be available to go out in your garden on the stand or can be made to hang in a tree or under a pergola. I have a couple under construction that will be in full flight. It has been a while since have posted, so I thought I would share what I do when I am not playing with Powertex. These cute little "faerie bears" are hand-felted over a calico bear, in a rainbow of colours. Perfect to sit and make at night - very easy, just watch out for those sharp needles!! With the right equipment, it isn't a problem. They can be personalised with babies names or created and embellished to suit your décor. They will be available in the "Faeries with Attitude" on-line shop and I am happy to post anywhere within Australia. I plan to have workshops in creating these little characters available soon, from the Churchill studio. All materials will be provided, including fibre in a range of colours, felting needles and tools and of course, the calico bear, which is available in three sizes. Workshop cost will depend on the size of the bear. Kits will also be available. How fabulous to see Powertex Australia at so many Stiches and Craft Shows and Quilt and Craft Fairs throughout Australia and New Zealand next year. I am so excited about being at both major shows next year with Ashley, the Importer/Owner of Powertex Australia in Melbourne next year. The Quilt and Craft Fair will be on from Thursday, 26th to Sunday, 29th of June and the Stiches and Craft Show is at Caulfield Race Course from Thursday, 23rd to Sunday, 26th of October. 2014 will be a great Powertex year!! I have just had another great weekend training, as Bev Fothergill, from Craigieburn, completed Level Three and Four of the Certified Powertex Trainer Course. Bev's work is just beautiful. Her painting skills with her PowerPrint Level 4 piece are fabulous!! Knowing that I had a bag of dried flowers "somewhere under a spare bed", discovered all kinds of goodies in a bag that I had forgotten about,, to help Bev finish of the foreground on her PowerPrint - expect lots of work with dried flowers over the coming weeks!! Next weekend I will be at the fabulous Hanging Rock market, with Craft Markets Australia. Haven't done this one before, and am looking forward to the weekend away as well. Congratulations Bev!! Now that the warmer weather is finally here, spend a fabulous day being creative with an "Arty Party" with Faeries with Attitude. OFFER: Organise FOUR FRIENDS plus yourself, CHOOSE one of the exciting Art Workshops and be rewarded with ONE Workshop FREE! Do you have some 'Arty' friends? Would you like a Day Out with a difference? If so why not book an 'Arty Party' and have a fun day with your friends discovering how easy it is to create artworks with Powertex! This offer only applies to workshops held at the Churchill studio. All materials are supplied, just bring yourself and your creativity. Link to the booking page here Just about to start packing the van for Bairnsdale Makers Market tomorrow. Hopefully the rain will stay away, and there will be lots of people out and about with having to vote in the Federal election tomorrow. A market is just what you need after that!!.
A few pictures below of two new sculptures done with the new ochre, which I have available, and another for the market. Not looking forward to the early morning start tomorrow - (I think that is the main reason I don't do so many markets anymore!!). I have finally unpacked the final boxfrom the Craft and Quilt Fair in Melbourne last weekend. What a fabulous experience it was, and how great for Powertex and "Faeries with Attitude" to get such exposure in Melbourne. Many thanks to both Ash and Mark, from Powertex Australia, for such an opportunity. Also, thanks to Sharron, Caren and Lyn for helping out on the stand during the Fair and being our support people while Ash and I demonstrated or held workshops. For the wonderful artwork that was on the stand, thanks to Val, Kaz, Sharron and Caren. There were so many compliments about the standard and variety of artwork. We were so lucky to get the additional space above the stand to display the fantastic mixed media and PowerPrint pieces. Thanks also to Ken, my husband. He was up the ladder hanging artwork, helping shift stock, doing a lot of the "heavy stuff" during set-up and then on Sunday night, taking it all back down again. I feel as if it has taken all week to recover, but will be back into workshops and the Certified Powertex Trainer Course this week!! Just confirmed a couple of new Sitting Sculpture workshops. The first one is with Traralgon and District Arts Society, at the "Art on Track" Gallery, Queens Parade in Traralgon. This will be on Saturday, 22nd June. Bookings are through the Art Society on 51766000. The other one is at Wyreena Community Arts Centre in Croydon, on Saturday, 13th July. Pictured is some of the fantastic work completed at the last Wyreena workshop!! A reminder that I will be at Traralgon Craft Market tomorrow with the faeries, and also featuring the work of Val Prokopiv, Sharron Johnson, and Karell Phillips, the other local Powertex trainers!! Perfect for that last minute Mothers Day shopping. |
