Just about to start packing the van for Bairnsdale Makers Market tomorrow. Hopefully the rain will stay away, and there will be lots of people out and about with having to vote in the Federal election tomorrow. A market is just what you need after that!!.
A few pictures below of two new sculptures done with the new ochre, which I have available, and another for the market. Not looking forward to the early morning start tomorrow - (I think that is the main reason I don't do so many markets anymore!!).

Faeries with Attitude will be at the Quilt and Craft Exhibition in Warragul with lots of new sculptures and the fabulous range of Powertex Products. There will be demonstrations each day and also a series of 1 hour workshops so you can discover the amazing versatility of Powertex.
Over the weekend there will be the opportunity to make your own tea-light holder, an elegant masquerade wall plaque, see demonstrations on how to use PowerPrint, the fabulous photo transfer medium, a variety of mixed media products and techniques, and of course sculpture demonstrations!! I have finally unpacked the final boxfrom the Craft and Quilt Fair in Melbourne last weekend. What a fabulous experience it was, and how great for Powertex and "Faeries with Attitude" to get such exposure in Melbourne. Many thanks to both Ash and Mark, from Powertex Australia, for such an opportunity. Also, thanks to Sharron, Caren and Lyn for helping out on the stand during the Fair and being our support people while Ash and I demonstrated or held workshops. For the wonderful artwork that was on the stand, thanks to Val, Kaz, Sharron and Caren. There were so many compliments about the standard and variety of artwork. We were so lucky to get the additional space above the stand to display the fantastic mixed media and PowerPrint pieces. Thanks also to Ken, my husband. He was up the ladder hanging artwork, helping shift stock, doing a lot of the "heavy stuff" during set-up and then on Sunday night, taking it all back down again. I feel as if it has taken all week to recover, but will be back into workshops and the Certified Powertex Trainer Course this week!!

How fantastic does the Powertex stand, at the Craft and Quilt Fair look?? What a huge job, many hours of work, lots of laughter, frustration at trying to get the artwork to hang straight, boxes everywhere, things missing, scissors gone AWOL, and finally a display that looks wonderful. Featuring artwork by some of the Victorian Powertex Team, there are many beautiful examples for to inspire you, demonstrating what can be achieved with the fabulous Powertex range of products. There are lots of great show "specials", and workshops and demonstrations throughout the day. Every day, I will be doing a "Christmas in July" Christmas Bauble demonstration, and a fabric tealight holder workshop. Ash will be doing a Powerprint demonstration daily and a beautiful mask workshop tomorrow at 4.00pm. Looking forward to a fabulous four days!! Have just said good-bye to another two sculptures. These two have been made from a wedding dress belonging to someone's Aunt. The smaller of the two is for the Aunt's 90th birthday - I hope she likes it. My lovely surprise while making these two was that at I was pulling the dress apart, some confetti fell out from behind the waistband. Faded, but so special, when you think of all the memories that would have been attached to the dress. Just a bit sentimental, but using fabric from clothing worn at special occasions or that has special significance, is a fabulous way of creating a really special sculpture. When I first started making fabric sculptures, I had used a Thai silk maternity dress, that I wore when having our son, (who is now 33) to make a geisha.
Lois and Jocelyn with some of their work.
Well, I have had a fabuous weekend working with Lois, Jocelyn and Kaz as they finished off their Level 3 and 4 Certified Powertex Trainer Course. Wonderful to see the results that can be achieved using Powertex products, by some very clever people!! Although there were some concerns that they had not painted much in the past, all the girls achieved wonderful results, proving they were more talented that they were giving themselves credit for. Lois and Jocelyn finished their mixed media pieces on Saturday for Level 3 and today Kaz joined them to finish Level 4. Kaz's work can also be seen on her Facebook page, Quintessential. Had a lovely day today, showing Penny how to use Powertex to create her pretty red faerie!! We had met at Foster market, where we got chatting about fabric and how to make the sculptures. She finally made it over to Churchill today to make her own sculpture!! Finally feeling like I am over this horrible flu and just as well as there is another big weekend of training coming up. Lois, Jocelyn and Kaz will be finishing off their Level 3 and 4, to complete the Certified Powetex Trainer Course. Level 3 is the Mixed Media piece and Level 4 is working with Powerprint, the fabulous photo transfer medium. Just fantastic to use, you are able to transfer photos onto canvas, glass, fabric, timber with fabulous results. I am sure there will be lots of photos of their fabulous work completed over the weekend. |
